AURUM
A storm. A trunk. A table.
An American walnut that stood for 223 years, until a storm brought it down in 2021. Seasoned for three and a half years, then made into one table with Ex Forti.
Brass
Joints in Ex Forti’s pattern.
Brass butterfly joints hold the fissure through the heart of the walnut: Ex Forti’s pattern, and a tribute to George Nakashima’s.
Bronze
Bases that warm the light.
Bronzed iron uprights, softened by plates of textured brass that take the chill off the metal. AURUM is Latin for gold.
One tree, one table
The trunk was salvaged and left to season in the open air for three years, then dried for six months more before any work began. We kept what the tree left behind: its live edge, the long fissure through its heart, the shifts in tone along the grain. The slab decided the shape of the table.

The editions
Solid walnut
The top in solid walnut, its fissure held by brass butterfly joints.
Frosted resin
The slab set in over 75 litres of frosted resin, both in a soft satin finish.
Clear resin
The slab in over 75 litres of clear resin, so the walnut seems to float.
